Darjeeling, a small town nestled in the foothills of the Himalayas at an altitude of 2,042 metres, is a true gem of India. Known worldwide as the tea capital, this picturesque destination offers much more than its lush green plantations. On our discovery, we explore the Yiga Choeling Monastery, also known as Ghum, perched at an even higher altitude of 2,225 metres. This monastery, one of the oldest in the region, is a haven of spiritual peace with its walls adorned with Buddhist frescoes and its breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains. On returning the from Gum we will take toy train to Darjeeling. Next, we visit the Tenzing Norgay Mountaineering Institute, named after the famous mountaineer who, along with Sir Edmund Hillary, was the first to reach the summit of Everest in 1953. The institute is not only a training centre for mountaineering enthusiasts, but also a place of memory that traces the exploits of mountaineers in the Himalayas. Nearby, we also discover a rehabilitation center for Tibetan refugees, a touching place where traditional Tibetan crafts are preserved and where visitors can learn more about the culture and history of exiled Tibetans. The walk through Darjeeling, with its British colonial buildings, ancient churches, and winding streets lined with colorful shops, is an incredible experience. The timeless charm of this old English city, combined with the cultural heritage, makes it a unique destination where every street corner seems to tell a new story. Breakfast, lunch and dinner included.

On Day 5, after a refreshing breakfast in Kalimpong, begin your journey to Pelling, located around 75 kilometers away, which will take approximately 4-5 hours by car. The drive is picturesque, offering stunning views of lush forests, valleys, and glimpses of Kanchenjunga along the way. Upon arrival in Pelling, check into your hotel and relax for a bit. Afterward, head to the renowned Pemagyatse Monastery, a key attraction in Pelling. This Buddhist monastery, perched on a hill, offers mesmerizing views of the surrounding mountains and valleys, including an unobstructed view of Kanchenjunga. The monastery is known for its serene atmosphere, vibrant murals, and peaceful surroundings, making it a perfect place for reflection and photography. We trek along the border with Nepal. During this day if weather is clear we can spot far distant Makalu ,the fifth-highest peak in the world

The highlight of today's trek is the spectacular panoramic view of the Himalayan ranges, featuring the iconic peaks of Everest, Makalu, and Kanchenjunga. Another captivating sight awaits at the magnificent Lakshipokhari lake, which can be reached after an uphill walk of approximately one hour from the campsite which we do early in the morning and return back to camp for further destination. From this vantage point, trekkers are treated to stunning vistas of the lake framed by the surrounding mountain ranges. The day involves an extended period of walking through breathtaking alpine landscapes, offering incredible views at every turn. In the afternoon, the trail descends to the serene Gomathang River, where lunch is enjoyed amidst tranquil surroundings. Following this, a short ascent leads to the picturesque campsite at Yangseb (3,960 m), bringing the day to a fulfilling close. Day 9: Lam Pokhari – Yangseb (3,960 m) 6h Enjoy the views of Himalayan peaks and crossing of the Danphe Bir Pass. A long day of trekking lies ahead. We first ascend toward the Danphe Bir Pass (4,500 m), which offers breathtaking views of the Kanchenjunga Massif, as well as—to the west—of Everest and Makalu. We then descend via a rather steep trail to the Gomathang River bank for lunch. In the afternoon, a short ascent brings us to Yangseb (3,960 m).

Today's trek is relatively short and moderate, featuring a series of gentle climbs and descents. Along the way, we cross a small pass at 4,300 m before reaching Pangding (4,275 m), where we set up camp for the evening. From the campsite, we are rewarded with breathtaking panoramas of towering mountains on our left and rolling hills stretching all the way to Yuksom. The afternoon provides an opportunity to rest and soak in the serene beauty of the surroundings.

Our trek begins with a journey toward Bik Bari, passing through the base of Khangla (5,000 m) but not reaching its summit. From the campsite, we will be treated to stunning views of the Rathong Glacier and South Kabur. The night will be spent at Bik Bari, located near the Himalayan Mountaineering Institute (HMI) area, just below the HMI camp. We will enjoy the view and the surrounding.

We walk close to Rathong glacier and descend to the river and cross the river and cilmb to Dzongri-la (4400m) which is also known as the base of black kabur and continue the descend to Dzongri. Where we set our camp for the night and this is the place where we join the regular route for the trek to Goechala view point 1.

Today, we start early at 4:00 AM for a short hike to the highest viewpoint to witness the breath-taking first light of the sun illuminating Kanchenjunga, the surrounding peaks, and the valley below. The hike takes approximately 40 minutes to an hour, with the timing of the first light varying between 5:00 and 5:30 AM, depending on the month. You will be informed the evening prior about the expected timing. Begin the day with a one-hour climb above the camp to take in the stunning panoramic views of Kangchenjunga's five majestic peaks and several others in the surrounding range. After soaking in the breathtaking scenery, return to camp for breakfast. The journey continues with a short ascent to a pass offering sweeping views of Dzongri, followed by a steep 300 m descent to the Kokchuram and Prek Chu torrent. From there, enjoy an easy walk through the picturesque valley, shaded by the towering presence of Mount Pandim and other awe-inspiring peaks. The trail then winds through serene alpine pastures, leading from Thangsing to Lamuney (4,150 m), a beautiful rocky plateau beside a flowing torrent and a small lake, which also serves as the final grazing ground for yaks. Just ahead lies the enchanting emerald-green Samiti Lake, adorned with vibrant prayer flags fluttering in the breeze, creating a truly magical setting which will be visited the next day. Night at campsite at Lamuney.

The long-awaited big day. We get up very early around 2/3 in the morning and walk around Samiti Lake with Pandim always on our right, going up the moraine. We cross it and climb for about 1-2 hours to reach Goecha La View Point-1 (4,600 m). We will not regret having gotten up very very early, because at sunrise, the spectacle is just striking, magical and unforgettable: In a few minutes, there, in front of us, the glacier of the Talung massif, the east face of Kangchenjunga, the neighbouring peaks of Kabru (7,338 m), Pandim (6,691 m), take on magnificent hues, changing from pink to blue, then to white to explode into incandescent yellows in a sky of incredible purity.
