During the months of September and October, the semi-nomadic shepherds of Chamba and Kangra Valley return to their home with their flocks of livestock from the high summer pasture of the Lahoul and Spiti Valleys via this route. It is one of the most picturesque treks in the region that witness the life of Himalayan Shepherds and their culture .
The trek starts from Manali after having overview on the authentic culture of the valley. Trail begins through the of forest of multispecies including giant cedar, Spruce and Silver Oak, meadows covered with varieties of flowers (plenty in summer) turquoise-blue lakes and meandering streams, high passes elevating 4800m., and snow-capped peaks. The flora and fauna are abundant, with numerous varieties of birds, and more rarely Himalayan bears and ibex can be spotted.
You will stroll amidst the only isolated village of Barabhangal to have the insight of their live style. Before descending to the Kangra Valley you will cross the last pass to end the trek at the village of Rajgundha.
Here you will see off the trekking crew and will travel to visit some of the highly venerated Hindu temples and Buddhist monasteries.
You can tailor this trek with world famous festival of Dushehra that take place in valley of Kullu.
